Admissions Requirements
To be considered for admission to the Master of Science in Strategic Leadership
program, applicants must:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
- Have an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 to 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, depending on depth of professional experience.
- Demonstrate at least two years of practical, verified work experience in a business or management capacity in a for-profit, nonprofit, or entrepreneurial organization. Applicants with less than two years experience may be considered on a limited, case by case basis. These “emerging leader” applicants will need to demonstrate an interest in and commitment to leadership development - as well as a high degree of potential. This interest and capacity will be determined through their essay and recommendations, along with their undergraduate GPA (typically 3.0 or higher). This limited inclusion of a restricted number of emerging leaders in the MSL program provides opportunities for mentorship by our established leadership students, as well as a broader range of generational input.
- Submit at least two letters of recommendation from the following categories: community leader, employer or [required for recent graduates] undergraduate faculty member.
- Complete an essay of 250 - 500 words, addressing:
- your interest in the MSL program and what you expect to gain from your MSL education,
- your experiences or responsibilities that demonstrate your interest in and commitment to your own leadership development,
- your most rewarding leadership experience and your most challenging leadership experience,
- the relevant professional, academic, and personal experiences you bring to the MSL program to benefit your educational experience and that of other cohort members.
- Have completed (or demonstrate proficiency through the application essay) in:
- Elementary Statistics
- College Algebra
- Computer Applications
- Oral and Written Communications
- Submit a current resume.
- International students must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. A minimum TOEFL of 550 is needed for admission consideration.
