The Division of Natural Science and Mathematics seeks to provide an environment that fosters and encourages learning through quality instructional, research and field experiences in a variety of pre-professional and major programs: computer science, engineering, health sciences, mathematics and natural sciences. In addition, we support major programs in other divisions. A high priority is placed on the integration of Christian faith with the academic disciplines in order to prepare students to live and serve responsibly in society.
All Division students engage in hands-on experience with a variety of advanced instrumentation. Students may pursue independent research projects and have the opportunity to present findings to regional professional organizations. Laboratory assistants for all undergraduate lab sections are chosen from top ranking division students. This leadership opportunity is another way for Roberts Wesleyan students to enhance their scholarship and develop field-related skills. Spacious classrooms and laboratories in the Merlin G. Smith Science Center offer the resources students need for a quality undergraduate education.
The Rochester area is recognized internationally as a center for chemical and technical industry. Through credit-bearing internships, Division students apply their classroom and academic laboratory skills to real-world situations. These experiences are very effective in career planning and often lead directly to employment. Additional support is provided by the College's Career Services and by relationships between the Division and local businesses. |
